We finished filming our Gogglebox inspired video today and, as a group, I think we're quite pleased with the result. All we have to do now is edit it so hopefully it will be uploaded soon.
I'm an AS Media Studies student also studying Fine Art, Textiles and Photography. I am really passionate about Media Studies as I enjoy being creative and imaginative.

Blogger App and More
I've just downloaded the blogger app and am testing to see if it works. I am really excited about it as I will be able to blog wherever I am.
Also, I have downloaded the IMDb app. It has a lot of interesting and useful information on it and has details on what films are out right now, what films are topping the box office as well as details on upcoming releases. IMDb's top 250 films list should be useful when looking for inspiration for our film opening. The app also shows what films and T.V series are popular right now and has a news section so that users can stay up to date with all things film related. Overall, I am really impressed with the app as it gives people access to so much information wherever they are.

Market Poll Results
Here are my results from my media poll. I am extremely pleased with the number of responses that I received. I found it interesting when reading through the responses because they are so varied, this poll will be very useful to look back on when we start thinking about ideas for our film opening.

Great Film Openings
I found a really useful and informative article that listed 'The 50 Best Film Openings of All Time', it includes a wide range of genres and styles which will be invaluable sources of information and will hopefully serve as inspiration when it comes to making our film opening. Although I have not seen most of the films on the list, it did include one of my favourite film openings, from 'Reservoir Dogs' directed by Quentin Tarantino. Below are two clips as I couldn't find one of the entire opening:
It is one of my favourites because it is very slow paced - a group of 'friends' having breakfast at a diner and having conversations about trivial things in a light-hearted manner, this is in stark contrast to the seriousness of the rest of the film. There isn't a lot of action in the scene and doesn't give away a lot (if any) clues about how the story will progress, instead, through their interactions we learn almost everything we need to know about the characters, their personalities and relationships with each other. I really like the pan around the table shot as we get to see all of the characters, I also like the over the shoulder shots and the fact that the screen goes completely black for a couple of seconds as we pan round, this puts the focus on the (meaningless) dialogue as there are moments with no visuals, this creates an interesting viewing experience.

Market Poll
I just finished creating my survey on SurveyMonkey.com. I wanted to create an online survey as it is much easier than printing out hard copies, it also allows people to complete it in their own time and at their own pace, hopefully making my survey more appealing. An online survey also makes it easy to distribute, you only need to give people the URL, this should hopefully give me more responses as I can send my survey out to more people more easily.
Due to a (unfortunate) ten question limit on the free version of SurveyMonkey, I have created two surveys. This allowed me to ask more questions so that I can gain even more information.
I should hopefully have my results ready to present soon.
